Coming to China
If you’re coming to China, particularly for the first time, there are a few things you’ll need to know. Less than 2% of Chinese people speak English, so outside of airports and Four and Five Star hotels you will find it very difficult to communicate or get directions.
Seasoned travellers will always get by; but non-Chinese speaking business travellers with time constraints will not.
You need more than just an interpreter, but a business guide experienced in dealing with Chinese wholesalers and manufacturers. China Buy Agents has guided business people from more than 30 different countries and every continent.
Our experience is not just in knowing how to deal with Chinese factory owners and their representatives; but in knowing what international buyers need from their business trips. For major projects we always recommend our clients come to China to inspect factories and get samples before making final purchasing decisions.
Here’s what we will do for you
China Buy will save you time!
This is one of the most important, yet overlooked, aspects of any business trip to China. If you are on a buying trip, visiting multiple factories and suppliers, you have to optimize your time.
Factories are in outlying areas but most have showrooms close to major city central business districts. In the time it takes to visit one factory, China Buy Agents can take you to see five or six different factory showrooms.
It is quite easy to get a Chinese Visa, in most western countries it takes about 3-4 days to process an application. If you are travelling for business you will need a letter of introduction from a Chinese company; if you are coming for a trade show, like the Canton Trade Fair, you will need a letter of invitation from the organisers. China Buy can arrange both.
Taxis are abundant in most Chinese cities, however, no taxi driver speaks English and, even if you give them directions written in Chinese, quite often you will not get to your destination. China Buy has a private car service available to all its clients, so you’ll be picked up by a driver who always knows exactly where you are going.
These are still an important resource for business travellers because many Chinese companies use trade shows to showcase their latest products. Registration for the larger trade shows is generally not that complicated; and you will be able to communicate by email with English speaking staff.
Once you arrive, most Chinese exhibitors you need to communicate with will not speak English, so a China Buy guide will not just interpret but be able to ask technical questions related to your business. Also, a trade show like the Canton Trade Fair has more than 60,000 exhibitors, a China Buy guide is a valuable resource in making sure you are not wasting your time talking to the wrong people.
Business Guide and Interpreter
Even Chinese people get lost when visiting new Chinese cities. You need a business guide who knows the local wholesalers and manufacturers, so you’re not wasting your time. Just as importantly our guides can tell the difference between a middle-man who claims to own a factory and the actual factory owner.
When getting ready to place an order, factory visits are very important. It lets you to assess the operations of the factory and to see whether it’s the right fit for you. Visits are also very important because it allows you to meet the factory owner. Personal relationships are enormously important in China, so meeting with your trusted business partners is a very good way of cementing prosperous long-term business relationships.
If you’re going to a factory for the first time, China Buy will conduct due diligence on the business beforehand to make sure the company is properly registered, it can do everything it claims to do and is the right fit for your business.
